Biden sticking with VP Harris: ‘ The perfect choice’
BY PAUL BEDARD Washington Examiner
The Biden administration’s campaign to prop up Vice President Kamala Harris has finally reached the president, who sounds committed to keeping his No. 2 on the 2024 reelection ticket.
In an email to supporters, President Joe Biden recalled the third anniversary of his selection of Harris, a former California senator and presidential candidate, on Aug. 11, 2020.
“Picking Kamala as my eventual vice president was one of the best decisions I made as a presidential nominee,” the president said.
“And since that day, she’s demonstrated that she was the perfect choice,” Biden added.
Since taking office, Harris has been embroiled in controversy and has been criticized by fellow Democrats who believe she is not up to the job. Her defenders have criticized Biden for setting her up to fail, and others have blamed her poor approval ratings on sexism and racism.
Biden said he likes Harris because she was just like him when former President Barack Obama dug deep to make him the 2008 vice presidential nominee.
“I learned from my friend Barack Obama what to look for: someone to be a partner in progress. Someone who shares the same perspective on how we view the challenges the country faces. Someone who will fight for the American people every day on the job,” Biden said.
“I know Kamala personally,” he said, adding, “I can tell you one thing for sure: She is just getting started.”
