Fatal crash closes I-70 westbound west of C-470 and exit 259

The westbound lanes of Interstate 70 were closed Monday morning as the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) investigated a fatal crash.
The crash happened in the westbound lanes of the interstate at Mile Marker 259, according to CSP Trooper Josh Lewis.
Westbound lanes of I-70 were closed between C- 470 and exit 259 due to the crash, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) tweeted. Westbound
C- 470 to westbound I-70 was also closed, CSP tweeted.
In a tweet, CSP suggested drivers take US40 to get around the closure but warned it could become clogged quickly.
The crash came was reported at 10:32 a.m., Lewis said.
It is unknown how many vehicles were involved in the crash, Lewis said.
It appeared that westbound traffic was being turned around and sent back toward Denver.
