DIAMONDBACKS 6, ROCKIES 0

What happened: The Rockies were down early again and never caught up after the Diamondbacks put together five runs in the first two innings. Colorado has lost each of the first three games of a four-game set and five of six meetings overall against Arizona.

On the mound: Dinelson Lamet made his return from the 15-day injured list and allowed five earned runs in three innings. It was his first start for the Rockies and first appearance since May 4 after dealing with lower back stiffness and brought his season earned run average to 13.17. Arizona starter Tommy Henry fired seven scoreless frames. Peter Lambert worked in long relief duty again and allowed an earned run in 2⅔ innings.

At the plate: Nolan Jones doubled in the fifth inning. He has a hit in four of the six games he’s played for the Rockies. Randal Grichuk went hitless for just the third time in his last 10 games. He hit leadoff for the first time this season. Three Arizona hitters reached base multiple times, led by Pavin Smith’s five. The Rockies tallied just three hits and went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position after going 0-for-8 on Tuesday.

What’s next: Colorado Rockies (RHP Chase Anderson, 0-0) at Arizona Diamondbacks (RHP Zach Davies 0-1) at 1:40 p.m. MT on Thursday at Chase Field (AT&T SportsNet).
