The Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve may be evacuated due to a fire in the area, park officials said Wednesday.

The fire was sparked from a lightning strike along Colorado 150, according to a tweet sent at 3:19 p.m. by park officials. Wednesday evening, the park was not open to inbound traffic and the visitor center is closed.

The park said in a Facebook post that park staff are working with the Rio Grande Division of Fire Prevention and Control and the Mosca Fire Department.
