One of the sports debuting in Beijing this year (in separate events for men and women) is big air skiing (top left), in which skiers launch themselves skyward from a ramp and complete as many twists, turns and tricks as they can. Other new events are (clockwise from above left) women's monobob, mixed team snowboard cross, mixed team ski jumping, mixed team short-track speed skating relay and mixed team aerials.
