Frosty Yuletide Punch

2 to 3 cups fresh cranberries, thin orange slices and pomegranate arils (or any combination of the three) Fresh mint sprigs

1 cup club soda 6 cups cranberry juice, divided 2 liters ginger ale, club soda or juice

1. Place a 7- to 9-inch ring mold or 9- to 10-cup bundt pan in a pie plate. Place cranberries, orange slices, pomegranate arils and a few mint sprigs in the bottom of the ring mold or cake pan, filling about half full.

2. In a pitcher, combine club soda and two cups cranberry juice. Carefully pour over the fruit to cover, leaving half an inch of space from the rim. Transfer to a level space in the freezer. Freeze at least 8 hours.

3. In a punch bowl, combine ginger ale and four cups cranberry juice and chill until ready to serve.

4. To remove ice ring from the mold, place the bottom of mold in a large bowl of cold water 2 to 3 minutes. Invert the mold or pan onto the cold pie plate, tapping on the bottom of the pan to release the ice ring. Add ice ring to punch bowl. Serves 12
