Gambling takes center stage in The News with an editorial, cartoon and news story taking up most of the right side of the front page.

As the police and district attorney face attacks from the defense in court, The News has let its voice be loud and clear with its editorial and accompanying cartoon: “Denver isn’t interested in an expose of gambling. It is common knowledge that it has been rampant. ... And the only hope of getting to the bottom of the whole mess, in our opinion, is a grand jury investigation. Even it may fail, but it has a chance of succeeding. The present ‘cleanup’ has none.”
